I believe that it takes bravery to realize that help is needed and even more courage to take that first step in receiving it. Sometimes, we hear the word “brave” and we relate it to some impressive achievement. That could be true, but bravery also comes in the quiet moments, that few people get to see.

I want to help. Helping others discover their best selves is my lifelong dream. I specialize in assessing psychological and emotional issues in adolescents, young adults and families. I believe that healing is a collaborative effort that requires caring for the whole person without judgment. I strive to supportively assist my clients in clarifying their personal goals for treatment. Rather than adopting one approach for all individuals and issues, I use a variety of methods to create a tailored treatment that aims to helps inidviduals break unhealthy cycles, unlearn negative thought patterns and CULTIVATE in areas of personal growth.

Professional Background

I’m a licensed clinical social worker in the state of North Carolina. I attained my Master’s Degree in Social Work from North Carolina Central University in 2012 after receiving my Bachelor of Social Work in 2008.

I have over 8 years of clinical experience in individual child/adolescent therapy,  individual adult therapy, and family therapy. I have been fortunate enough to work with a range of populations within the mental health community. I am rostered certified trauma specialist through the North Carolina Child Treatment Program, a partnership between the Duke-UCLA National Center for Child Traumatic Stress; the Center for Child and Family Health; and the School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.This therapeutic approach is effective for those 18 and under who have experienced some type of trauma.

I’m currently qualified and trained to practice EMDR based therapy with adults, adolescents, and children. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing can be a powerful tool in helping people move past their trauma.It is an evidence based approach, approved by the American Psychiatric Association as an effective tool for treatment of PTSD. It can be used in conjunction with talk therapy, as an adjunctive therapy with a separate therapist, or as a treatment all by itself.

 I am a wife, mother, and friend. In my free time, I love spending quality time with my family, volunteering within the community, online shopping, planning in my planner, reading the latest must reads, discovering new restaurants around the area, and traveling while exploring different cultures.
